Polin Sans: A Multiscript Journey through Polish Modernism

Embarking on a quest to meld the modernist allure of Władysław Strzemiński's "a.r." Alphabet with the pre-war Warsaw script, the Polin Sans typeface emerged from my musings. Delving into geometric Cyrillic variants, I stumbled upon "Towards an open layout: A letter to Volodya Yefimov", sparking a revelation. Circular forms, often associated with Bulgarian Cyrillic, seamlessly wove into the classical version without hindering legibility.

Simultaneously, my fascination with the Hebrew typeface "jaffa" on typoteka.pl, akin to "a.r." in Hebrew, fueled the fire. Enter Ben Nathan from Israel, infusing his native script into the project. What began as a journey through Polish modernism expanded exponentially. Greek and Vietnamese scripts soon found their place in the Polin Sans family.

This typeface, crafted by Mateusz Machalski and Ben Nathan, with the unwavering support of Michał Gorczyca and Małgorzata Bartosik, is a testament to diverse cultural influences. Polin Sans stands not just as a font but as a historical odyssey through the intricate tapestry of Polish modernism, etched by hands of varied heritages.
